The Algarve has more than 30 courses close together along the south coast, mild winters and short flights from the UK and northern Europe. Quinta do Lago, Vale do Lobo, Vilamoura and Monte Rei are all within 45 minutes of Faro Airport. Our packages include bed and breakfast and green fees, and start from £304 / €353 per person for 2026/27.
The Algarve, on Portugal’s south coast, has more than 30 golf courses within about an hour of Faro Airport, from the pine-lined classics of Vilamoura and the championship courses of Quinta do Lago and Vale do Lobo to Monte Rei in the quiet east and the clifftop and links holes around Lagos in the west.Our Algarve packages include bed and breakfast and green fees at hotels chosen for their golf: resorts with a course on site, such as Penina, Amendoeira, NAU Morgado and Monte Rei, and hotels with a free shuttle to the courses at Vilamoura and Quinta do Lago.

Which part of the Algarve is best for golf?
Vilamoura and Quinta do Lago (central Algarve) have the biggest choice: the five Dom Pedro courses at Vilamoura, Vila Sol, and the three Quinta do Lago courses next to Vale do Lobo. Most hotels here run a free shuttle to the courses, and Faro Airport is 15 to 30 minutes away.
The western Algarve, around Portimão, Carvoeiro and Lagos, is quieter and more rugged: Penina, Morgado and Álamos, Amendoeira, Salgados, Palmares and Boavista. Allow 45 minutes to an hour from Faro.
The eastern Algarve, towards Tavira and the Spanish border, is the quietest part of the coast and home to Monte Rei, regularly ranked Portugal’s best course, with Quinta da Ria, Quinta de Cima, Castro Marim and Quinta do Vale nearby.

Do I need a car for an Algarve golf holiday?
Airport transfers are not included in our Algarve packages; we can arrange them on request. Many of our hotels include a free shuttle to the golf, including Hotel Quinta do Lago, Conrad Algarve, Dona Filipa, Domes Lake, Hilton Vilamoura, Tivoli Marina Vilamoura, Pestana Vila Sol and Algarve Marriott Salgados. At the others a hire car is the easiest way to reach the courses, and each package shows whether transport is included.

When is the best time to play golf in the Algarve?
Golf is played all year. March to May and late September to November have the best mix of warm days and course condition, and are the busiest times. Winter is mild, with plenty of sunshine and the lowest prices. July and August are hot, and several hotels only quote summer rates on request.

Which airport do I fly to?
Faro Airport (FAO). The hotels in our Algarve packages are between 15 minutes and 1 hour away by car.
Are airport transfers included?
No. Our Algarve packages do not include airport transfers. We can arrange private transfers on request, or you can hire a car.
What is included in an Algarve golf package?
Bed and breakfast in the room type shown, and the green fees listed in the package. Some packages also include a golf shuttle or buggies; each package lists exactly what is included.
Do I need a handicap certificate?
Yes, please bring one. Many Algarve courses have a maximum handicap, usually 28 for men and 36 for ladies.
Can I change the courses in my package?
Often, yes. Several packages offer an upgrade to the Old Course or Pinhal at Vilamoura for a supplement, and we can quote other courses on request.
