Oitavos Dunes was designed by Arthur Hills and opened in 2001. It sits west of Cascais in the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, close to the ocean. The routing moves between umbrella pine woodland and open sandy dunes, so the course mixes sheltered holes with exposed ones where the Atlantic wind decides how far the ball goes.
It is par 71 and 6,372 metres from the back tees. The fairways are generous, but the raised greens and the wind make scoring difficult. It hosted the Portuguese Open in 2005, 2008 and 2009, and Top 100 Golf Courses ranks it among the best ten courses in Portugal. Facilities include a driving range with covered bays, putting green, practice bunker, pro shop and the Verbasco restaurant.

Where can I stay?
We include Oitavos Dunes in packages from Sheraton Cascais Resort, Penha Longa Resort and Iberostar Selection Lisboa.
Is it windy?
Often. The course is close to the coast and several holes are fully exposed, so take an extra club or two when the wind blows.
How far is it from Lisbon Airport?
About 35 minutes by car. Airport transfers are not included in our packages but can be arranged on request.
