Quinta do Lago sits on the edge of the Ria Formosa Natural Park near Almancil and has three courses. The South Course, designed by William Mitchell and opened in 1974, has hosted the Portuguese Open eight times and is regularly listed among Europe’s top 100 courses. Its best-known hole is the par-3 15th, a long carry over a lake. The North Course, also a 1974 Mitchell layout, was redesigned in 2014 by Beau Welling with Paul McGinley, with four sets of tees on every hole.
Laranjal opened in 2009 on a former orange grove, designed by Jorge Santana da Silva. It is par 72 with five par 5s and five par 3s, rolling fairways and mature umbrella pines. Practice facilities are extensive, with ranges at both Quinta do Lago and Laranjal, the Paul McGinley Golf Academy and a TaylorMade Performance Centre. Guests at Hotel Quinta do Lago and Conrad Algarve have a free shuttle to the courses.

Which course is the hardest?
The South is the championship course and the one most golfers want to play. The North and Laranjal are slightly more forgiving and work well as second and third rounds.
How far is it from Faro Airport?
About 15 minutes by car. Airport transfers are not included in our packages but can be arranged on request.
Is there a shuttle to the courses?
Our Hotel Quinta do Lago and Conrad Algarve packages include a free shuttle between the hotel and the Quinta do Lago courses. At other hotels you will need a car or taxi.
