Vidago Palace Golf Course

Golf at Vidago began in 1936 with a nine-hole course designed by Philip Mackenzie Ross in the park of the Vidago Palace Hotel. As part of the hotel’s restoration, the architects Cameron & Powell redesigned it in 2010, keeping holes on the original tee and green positions and adding new ones to make 18 holes. The course has hosted the Bonallack Trophy and, in 2025, a Ladies European Tour Access Series event.

The course is par 72 and measures 6,308 metres from the white tees. It is a parkland layout among the mature trees of the Vidago park, in the hills of northern Portugal near Chaves, about 1 hour 30 minutes from Porto Airport. The clubhouse has a restaurant and pro shop, and there is a golf academy with a driving range and practice greens. The first tee is a short walk from the hotel, which makes it easy to play more than one round a day on an unlimited golf package.
