PGA Aroeira lies on the Herdade da Aroeira estate at Charneca da Caparica, across the Tagus south of Lisbon, in protected pine forest close to the Atlantic beaches. The No.1 course was designed by Frank Pennink and opened in 1973. It is flat but demanding, with narrow fairways between the pines and lakes in play, and visiting golfers call it the Wentworth of Lisbon. It hosted the Portuguese Open in 1996 and 1997 and has recently had new bunkers and irrigation.
The No.2 course, by Donald Steel, opened in 2000. It is longer at 6,367 metres, with five large lakes, fairway bunkers and wide, undulating greens, and it has hosted the Ladies Open of Portugal. Both are par 72. The estate has a driving range, putting and chipping greens, a practice bunker and a renovated clubhouse.

Where can I stay?
Our packages are based at the Aroeira Lisbon Hotel Sea & Golf, which has a free shuttle to both PGA Aroeira courses.
Which course is harder?
No.1 is shorter but tighter through the pines. No.2 is longer, with more water. Our packages include a round on each.
How far is it from Lisbon Airport?
About 30 minutes by car. Airport transfers are not included in our packages but can be arranged on request.
