The golf
The courses
Fuerteventura Golf Club was the first 18-hole course on the island. It opened in 2002 at Caleta de Fuste, on the east coast about 10 minutes from the airport, and hosted the Spanish Open in 2004.
The course is par 70 and about 6,100 metres from the back tees, designed by Juan Catarineu. It is fairly open and flat, with the Atlantic on one side, palm trees, three lakes in play and black volcanic rock between the fairways. The par-5 17th climbs gently uphill and the dogleg 18th runs back down to the clubhouse. The trade wind is often the main defence.
Sheraton Fuerteventura is next to the course and runs a free shuttle bus to it. All our Sheraton packages include rounds here, with a trolley and range balls.
