The golf
The courses
Villanueva Golf is in Puerto Real, on the shores of the Bay of Cádiz, about ten minutes from the city of Cádiz and around 40 minutes by car from Costa Ballena. The 18-hole, par-71 course was designed by Aymerich Consulting and opened in 2006. It is laid out on flat to gently rolling ground with wide fairways, umbrella pines and palms, and lakes and water hazards on several holes, so it suits golfers of all levels and is easy to walk, though the wind off the bay can make it play longer than the card suggests.
The club has a driving range, putting and chipping greens and a practice bunker, a clubhouse with a café-restaurant and events lounge, and, unusually, two croquet lawns. Buggies and trolleys are available for hire.
Villanueva is included in our Cádiz Golf and Atlantic Golf packages at Elba Costa Ballena. Transport to the course is not included; most golfers hire a car, or we can arrange transfers.
