Boavista Course
Howard Swan
The golf
Howard Swan
Boavista Golf opened in 2002, about 3 km west of Lagos. Howard Swan designed it in two parts. The resort holes (1 to 3 and 13 to 18) run around the Boavista development, and the country holes (4 to 12) head out into open, rolling countryside. The par-4 7th has the best sea view on the course. Water comes into play on the 14th, 15th and 17th, and the 18th crosses a copy of the Swilcan Bridge at St Andrews.
It is a par 71 of 6,145 metres from the back tees and 5,737 metres from the whites, so it is a fair test without being overlong. The ground is slightly hilly, and walking is allowed. There are good practice areas and a clubhouse with a restaurant.
