The third nine of the 27-hole complex, useful for a relaxed extra round.
Palm Hills is the largest golf site in Egypt, covering more than 275 acres of the Palm Hills October community west of Cairo. Nicklaus Design created its 27 holes, which opened in 2014. The 18-hole championship course stretches past 7,200 yards from the back tees but plays at about 5,200 from the forward tees, so the same layout suits a strong single-figure player and a relaxed holiday four-ball. The fairways are generous, while six man-made lakes, creeks and well-placed bunkers make good course management essential.
A third nine adds variety over a week, and the Pyramids appear on the horizon from parts of the course. Practice facilities include a grass driving range, short-game areas and an academy, and the clubhouse has a restaurant. All the other West Cairo courses are a short drive away.
