Dom Pedro Pinhal

Pinhal means pine wood, and the name describes the course well. Frank Pennink designed it and it opened in 1976; Robert Trent Jones Sr. made significant changes in 1985. Umbrella and Atlantic pines line most fairways over rolling parkland, with ponds and a stream coming into play on five holes.

It is par 72 and 6,353 metres from the back tees. Accuracy matters more than length, as the greens are fairly small and the trees close in on wayward drives. Pinhal is part of the Dom Pedro collection in Vilamoura and has a renovated clubhouse with restaurant and bar, a driving range, putting green and chipping area.
