Pinhal means pine wood, and the name describes the course well. Frank Pennink designed it and it opened in 1976; Robert Trent Jones Sr. made significant changes in 1985. Umbrella and Atlantic pines line most fairways over rolling parkland, with ponds and a stream coming into play on five holes.
It is par 72 and 6,353 metres from the back tees. Accuracy matters more than length, as the greens are fairly small and the trees close in on wayward drives. Pinhal is part of the Dom Pedro collection in Vilamoura and has a renovated clubhouse with restaurant and bar, a driving range, putting green and chipping area. How does Pinhal compare with the Old Course?
Both are tree-lined Pennink designs. Pinhal is par 72 and a little more forgiving, which makes it a good second round if you are also playing the Old Course.
How far is it from Faro Airport?
About 25 minutes by car. Airport transfers are not included in our packages but can be arranged on request.
Is Pinhal included in my package?
