Amendoeira Golf Resort sits in the countryside near Alcantarilha, north of Armação de Pêra. Both courses opened in 2008. The Faldo course is the longer and more rugged, at 6,598 metres and par 72, on hilly ground with rocky outcrops, holm oaks, cacti and wild herbs. Faldo called it a Mediterranean desert-style course, and it was named Portugal’s best golf course at the World Golf Awards in 2016. Accurate approach play is needed throughout, and the par-5 18th finishes in a natural amphitheatre.
The O’Connor Jnr. course, designed by Christy O’Connor Jnr., is flatter and wider but slightly longer, at 6,708 metres and par 72. Lakes, ponds and streams come into play on many holes, with palms and orange groves along the front nine. A buggy is included in the green fee on both courses. The resort also has a driving range, an academy and a fitting studio.

Is a buggy included?
Yes. A buggy is included in the green fee on both courses, which helps on the hilly Faldo course.
Which course should I play first?
The O'Connor Jnr. course is the gentler introduction. The Faldo course is hillier and more demanding, so many golfers save it for later in the week.
Where can I stay?
Amendoeira Golf Resort has apartments beside the courses. Our Tivoli Carvoeiro and Algarve Marriott Salgados packages also include both courses.
Sind Flughafentransfers inbegriffen?
No. Airport transfers are not included in our packages, but we can arrange them on request. Faro Airport (FAO), about 35 minutes by car.
