Why play golf around Lisbon?
Lisbon combines a short flight with a wide choice of courses and a capital city on the doorstep. Penha Longa, Oitavos Dunes and Quinta da Marinha are about 30 minutes from the airport, Royal Óbidos, West Cliffs and Praia D'El Rey about an hour north, and Comporta about an hour south. Our packages include bed and breakfast and green fees, and start from £240 / €279 per person for 2026/27.
Lisbon and the coast around it have some of the best golf in Portugal within an hour of the airport: Penha Longa, Oitavos Dunes, Quinta da Marinha and Estoril on the Cascais and Sintra coast, the Silver Coast courses around Óbidos to the north, and the new courses at Comporta to the south.Our Lisbon packages include bed and breakfast and green fees, at city hotels, coastal resorts and golf hotels with their own course.

Which area around Lisbon is best for golf?
Cascais, Estoril and Sintra: Penha Longa, Oitavos Dunes, Quinta da Marinha, Golf do Estoril, Beloura and Belas are all within about 25 minutes of each other. Stay at Penha Longa Resort, Sheraton Cascais, Palácio Estoril, Pestana Sintra or Onyria Quinta da Marinha, or in central Lisbon at Iberostar Selection Lisboa.
The Silver Coast, around Óbidos about an hour north, has four highly ranked courses a few minutes apart: Royal Óbidos, West Cliffs, Praia D’El Rey and Bom Sucesso. The hotels here include a free shuttle between them. Dolce CampoReal, closer to Lisbon, has its own course.
South of the Tagus, PGA Aroeira, Quinta do Peru and Montado are 30 minutes from the airport, and the new Dunas and Torre courses at Comporta about 1 hour 15 minutes.

Do I need a car for a Lisbon golf holiday?
Airport transfers are not included in our Lisbon packages; we can arrange them on request. On the Silver Coast and at Aroeira and Palácio Estoril the hotels run a free golf shuttle. For packages that combine courses around Cascais and Sintra, a hire car is the easiest option, or we can arrange transfers.

When is the best time to play golf near Lisbon?
Golf is played all year. March to June and September to November are the best months. Winters are mild but wetter than in the Algarve, and the Atlantic coast can be windy. Summer is warm without being as hot as the south.

Which airport do I fly to?
Lisbon Airport (LIS). Hotels in our packages are between 15 minutes (central Lisbon) and about 1 hour 20 minutes (Comporta) away.

No. Our Lisbon packages do not include airport transfers. We can arrange private transfers on request, or you can hire a car.
Can I play Penha Longa at the weekend?
Packages that include Penha Longa Atlantic are for weekday rounds. Weekend rounds are possible for a supplement.
Can I combine a city break with golf?
Yes. Our Iberostar Selection Lisboa packages are based in central Lisbon, with rounds at Belas, Penha Longa, Quinta da Marinha and Oitavos Dunes.
