The Costa de la Luz is the Atlantic coast of Cádiz, between the Strait of Gibraltar and the Portuguese border: long sandy beaches, white towns, sherry country around Jerez and steady sunshine all year. The golf is spread along the coast from Rota and Chipiona to the Bay of Cádiz and inland to Jerez, and it is quieter and better value than the Costa del Sol.nnWe base our Costa de la Luz packages at Elba Costa Ballena Beach & Thalasso Resort, a four-star hotel on the beach a kilometre from Costa Ballena Ocean Golf Club. Which golf courses can I play from Elba Costa Ballena?
Our packages combine three courses:
- Costa Ballena Ocean Golf Club: José María Olazábal’s 27 holes by the sea, about a kilometre from the hotel, with a free hotel shuttle, a huge practice ground and a 9-hole par-3 course.
- Sherry Golf Jerez: a long Stirling & Martin course on the edge of Jerez, about 35 minutes away.
- Villanueva Golf: a flat, links-style course with plenty of water at Puerto Real on the Bay of Cádiz, about 40 minutes away.

Choosing a package
Which Costa de la Luz golf package is right for you?
Ballena Golf: all five rounds at Costa Ballena, plus the par-3 course on playing days. No car needed thanks to the hotel shuttle.
Cádiz Golf: three rounds at Costa Ballena and two at Villanueva Golf.
Atlantic Golf: the most variety, with three rounds at Costa Ballena, one at Sherry Golf and one at Villanueva.
All three are 7 nights on half board with three entries to the thalasso spa circuit. For Cádiz Golf and Atlantic Golf you will need a hire car or transfers to Villanueva and Sherry Golf.

When is the best time to play golf on the Costa de la Luz?
Golf is played all year. Autumn (September to November) and spring (March to May) are the best months, with warm days and good course condition. Winter is mild and the cheapest time to go. Our Elba Costa Ballena packages are not available in July and August, when the coast is busy with Spanish holidaymakers.

Which airport is closest to the Costa de la Luz golf courses?
Jerez (XRY) is about 40 km from Costa Ballena, around 35 minutes by car. Seville (SVQ) has more flights and is about 125 km away, 1 hour 20 minutes. Gibraltar and Málaga are further.
Are airport transfers included?
No. Our Costa de la Luz packages do not include transfers. We can arrange private transfers from Jerez or Seville on request, or you can hire a car, which is useful for the Villanueva and Sherry Golf rounds.
What is included in an Elba Costa Ballena golf package?
7 nights in a Double Room on half board (buffet breakfast and dinner, drinks not included), five rounds at the courses listed in the package, three entries to the thalasso spa circuit (not on Saturdays), the free shuttle to Costa Ballena Ocean Golf Club and use of the 24-hour gym.
Are there any compulsory supplements?
Yes, on a few dates: Christmas Eve dinner (€33) and New Year's Eve gala dinner (€147) per person, Easter week 20–28 March 2027 (€7 per person per night) and the Spanish MotoGP 2027 weekend at Jerez (€7.50 per person per night, dates to be confirmed).
How is the Costa de la Luz different from the Costa del Sol?
It faces the Atlantic rather than the Mediterranean, so it is breezier and a little cooler in summer, with long natural beaches and far less development. Courses are quieter and green fees lower, while Jerez and Cádiz are close for evenings out.
