Sotogrande sits at the western end of the Costa del Sol, between Marbella and Gibraltar, and has more highly ranked golf in a small area than almost anywhere in Europe. Which golf courses can I play from SO/ Sotogrande?
Our packages combine the courses around the hotel:
- The Alto Club: in the hotel grounds, a Dave Thomas parkland course with pines, water and elevation changes, plus a TopTracer range and an academy led by Suzann Pettersen.
- La Reserva Club: Cabell B. Robinson’s championship course in the hills behind Sotogrande, about five minutes away.
- La Hacienda Alcaidesa: two courses on the coast towards Gibraltar. The Links has sea views across to Africa; the Heathland is the newer, more sheltered layout.
- The San Roque Club and Finca Cortesín: included in our 7-night Albatros package.
Valderrama and Real Club Sotogrande are also nearby and can be added on request.

Albatros: the widest choice, up to five different courses in 7 nights, all with a shared buggy.

When is the best time to play golf in Sotogrande?
Golf is played all year. Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) have the best mix of warm days and course condition. Winter is mild, with around 5 to 8 hours of sunshine a day, and is the cheapest time to go. July and August are hot and the most expensive.

Which airport is closest to Sotogrande?
Gibraltar (GIB) is 25 km away, about 30 minutes by car, with flights from London. Málaga (AGP) has many more flights and is 109 km away, about 1 hour 15 minutes.
Are airport transfers included?
No. Our Sotogrande packages do not include transfers. We can arrange private transfers from Gibraltar or Málaga on request, or you can hire a car.
What is included in a Sotogrande golf package?
Bed and breakfast at SO/ Sotogrande in an SO/ Cosy Room, green fees at the courses listed in the package (most with a shared buggy), daily access to The Alto Club driving range, and use of the spa's fitness club and hydrothermal circuit.
Can we play Valderrama?
Yes, on request. Valderrama is a few minutes from the hotel. Tee times are limited and green fees are high, so ask us early and we will quote it with your package.
How far ahead do we need to book?
Bookings for SO/ Sotogrande packages must be made at least 30 days before arrival and are confirmed on full, non-refundable payment.
