Tazegzout is the course that put Taghazout Bay on the golf map. Kyle Phillips, the architect of Kingsbarns in Scotland, designed the 18-hole course on hills about 80 metres above the Atlantic, keeping the old argan trees and the natural limestone ridges. The sea is in view from almost every hole, and the finish is spectacular: the closing holes cross two deep rocky ravines along the cliff edge.
The course opened in 2014 and a nine-hole seaside course followed in 2021, so there are 27 holes in all. Paspalum fairways and fast greens make it a real test, and the wind off the ocean can change a hole from one day to the next. Hyatt Place is right next to the course, and the Fairmont and Hyatt Regency are about five minutes away with free golf shuttles.
